Jefferson's embargo blocked all trade out of the US. He did this to keep the british and French from stealing their supplies for their war. It ended up causing the country many problems. The merchants in the country couldn't make any money. It sent the country into an economic problem no one could make any money. It was a bad embargo.
Monroe Doctrine
The doctrine was Monroes seventh annual document to congress. It stated that the united states was its own place. It shouldn't interfere with other countries in Europe. It shouldn't be in contact with south american countries. It was written to keep people from invading the US and so the Us didn't try to take other countries land.
John Marshall
John Marshall was fighting against slavery. Many of the things he did though many of the members of the senate disagreed. He wanted the government to have too much power. He had many important court cases. He almost always won his cases. Every thing he did he did by exactly what the constitution said. He believed strongly in the government. He was a good court person, but he was very strict in how he did things.

Marbury vs. Madison
It started with John Marshall created 16 new federal judgeships and other offices. When these Judges were appointed the republicans were outraged. They said it got rid people which was used to get the federalists out of office. They fought back changing the Judiciary Act of 1801. Madison refused to give a commission to Marbury. Marbury then sued him for not giving it to him. The court decided that Marbury deserved the commission. The court couldn't do anything about it. Marshall changed some things so that the court had a say. They did some things the trial went on for several more months then it was decided that chases crime was that he was not able to control his temper or mouth.

It has been an extremely rough travel over these colossal mountains. We have had much help from the native people. They have generations of experience navigating the great mountains. it would be nearly impossible to cross these mountains with out their help. We have been travelling with a young native american woman named Sacagawea. She knows the land very well. It was a very long and treacherous trip. we delt with weather and animals it is incredible the wild life.
Expanding America Journal entry
It is a cloudy gray day here in the mountains. I saw several new animals there are an abundance of them in this area. There are several birds that I have never seen before. There are many strange animals not native to our home states. They are more wild. The rivers and streams are full and raging it is an amazing new area with intruiging new animals. It is a wild new place.
